The damage caused by a biological attack could reach an untold magnitude, causing wide-scale illness and death, and instilling fear and panic in whole populations.<br \/>\nTerrorists continue to attempt to build up their capacity to produce and deploy bio-weapons. The risk is evolving with the rise of the Internet and the increasing availability of data on obtaining materials and assembling weapons. Clearly, the need for structured prevention and response strategies \u2013 for the law enforcement community and beyond \u2013 is more critical than ever.<br \/>\nIn response to these growing threats, we launched the INTERPOL Bioterrorism Prevention Programme six years ago as the world\u2019s first global resource for the exchange of information and expertise in this area.<br \/>\nThis Bioterrorism Incident Pre-Planning and Response Guide is a key output of the Programme.
