Reflecting the feedback from 166 US based health information security professionals, the findings of this study distill as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A pattern of cybersecurity threats and experiences is discernable across US healthcare organizations\n<ul>\n<li>Significant security incidents are a near universal experience in US healthcare organizations with many of the incidents initiated by bad actors, leveraging e-mail as a means to compromise the integrity of their targets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Many positive advances are occurring in healthcare cybersecurity practices\n<ul>\n<li>Healthcare organizations appear to be allocating more of their information technology (\u201cIT\u201d) budgets to cybersecurity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Complacency with cybersecurity practices can put cybersecurity programs at risk\n<ul>\n<li>There are certain responses that are not necessarily \u201cbad\u201d cybersecurity practices, but may be an \u201cearly warning signal\u201d about potential complacency seeping into the organization\u2019s information security practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Notable cybersecurity gaps exist in key areas of the healthcare ecosystem\n<ul>\n<li>The lack of phishing tests in certain organizations and the pervasiveness of legacy systems raise grave concerns regarding the vulnerability of the healthcare ecosystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bibliotecadeseguranca.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/2019-himss-cybersecurity-survey-final-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-12143 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bibliotecadeseguranca.com.br\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/download_fr.gif\" alt=\"T\u00e9l\u00e9charger\" width=\"107\" height=\"25\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HIMSS R\u00e9sum\u00e9: The 2019 HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey provides insight into the information security experiences and practices of US healthcare organizations in light of increasing cyber-attacks and compromises.
